From Monsters and Critics.com Movies News Berlin - An Italian film festival opens in Berlin next week, giving audiences a chance to see seven movies that would not normally make it into German cinemas. Cinema Italia! is the title of the week-long festival that runs from December 13-19. The festival opens with a screening of Michele Placido's Romanzo Criminale - a tale of three petty criminals in Rome during the 70s and 80s. This is followed by Paolo Virzi's io e Napoleone, a drama about Napoleon's time in exile. The third film to be shown is Roberto Dordit's Apnea - a thriller set against the background of industrial accidents. The other films in the festival are l9amico di famiglia, directed by Paolo Sorrentino, l9aria salata by Alessandra Angelici, Sergio Rubini's la terra and uno su due by Eugenio Cappuccio. The films are all being shown in the original language with subtitles in German or English. On December 15 there will be a prize awarded for the audiences' favourite film.
