From Monsters and Critics.com Movies News Despite all the recent buzz over what Iron Man's suit will look like in Marvel Entertainment's first independently produced feature – we now know who will play the comic character, Robert Downey Jr. Screenplay written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby and helmed by Jon Favreau (‘Elf’ 2003), Downey will play Tony Stark, a rich industrialist and inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a super weapon. Instead, after torture and abuse, he builds a high-tech suit, escapes captivity to return home and use his Iron Man suit to protect the world. Marvel Comics released the first issue of Iron Man in the 1960’s during the Vietnam War – Stark’s captivity originally orchestrated by the Viet Cong.
