Produced by Ong-Bak director Prachya Pinkaew and directed by Ong-Bak co-writer and fight choreographer Panna Rittikrai, BORN TO FIGHT is a breathtaking remake of the director's own 1982 B-movie Kerd Ma Lui.
Placing the stunt men firmly in the spotlight as the stars of the show, the stunt crew responsible for Ong-Bak's amazing set-pieces is unleashed once again in BORN TO FIGHT, an action-packed rollercoaster of a movie that only stunt men could make. It's out with the wires, CGI and green screen effects on which Hollywood relies and in with some seriously hardcore, high-impact, old school stunt action. Also starring in the film are numerous real-life Thai sports stars and athletes, all of whom bring their own unique athletic skills to the stunt action.
A highly-anticipated film, thanks to its strong connections to "Ong-Bak", BORN TO FIGHT is already becoming one of the most talked about Asian action features of the year, not least for the inclusion of several show-stopping sequences, including a jaw-dropping fight scene atop two moving trucks that has to be seen to be believed.
During a drug bust that goes horribly wrong, Special Forces police officer Deaw (Dan Chupong) is witness to the brutal murder of his superior office and friend, Major Puntakarn Ritdamrong (Sahaschai Chumrum) on the orders of the General Yang (Noppol Gomarachun), a notorious drug baron. Yang is eventually brought to justice, but Deaw, no longer able to perform his police duties following his friend's death, decides to take time out from the force to accompany his taekwondo champion sister, Nui (Kessarin Ektawatkul), and a team of elite Olympic athletes on a charity visit to a small village situated near the Thai/Burmese border. Shortly after they arrive, the village is overrun and held hostage by an army of guerrillas armed with a nuclear missile and demanding the release of General Yang. With the missile aimed at Bangkok and the clock ticking, it is up to Deaw, his sister and her fellow athletes to use their unique skills in fighting back against the mercenaries before it is to late.
BORN TO FIGHT will be released at selected UK cinemas on 2nd September 2005.
