Sarandon and Fiennes in Doris and Bernard

Susan Sarandon and Ralph Fiennes are in negotiations to star in Doris and Bernard.

Variety reports the independent film, directed by Bob Balaban, follows tobacco billionairness Doris Duke and her butler. It will center on the latter part of Duke's life and her relationship with her gay Irish butler, Bernard Lafferty, who inherited her fortune.

Filming is due to begin in New York this fall.
