Gellar cast in American McGee's Alice

Universal Pictures is to adapt the video game American McGee's Alice, with Sarah Michelle Gellar cast for director Marcus Nispel, the Hollywood Reporter says.
The game was a big hit and based on Lewis Caroll's famous novels, which are in the public domain.
The game is slightly different from the books in that Alice has grown up and is a mentally disturbed young woman who returns to Wonderland after her parents are killed in a fire. There she confronts her fear and meets all manner of strange creatures.
Erich and Jon Hoeber have been hired to write the screenplay.
