Eddie Murphy cast in Dreamgirls

Eddie Murphy has been cast in DreamWorks' upcoming screen version of the musical Dreamgirls.
The film is the defacto story of the rise of Diana Ross and the Supremes during their formative years.
Based on the hit Broadway musical about a trio of young black female singers who strive to cross over to the white-dominated pop charts in the early '60s bowed in 1981.
Jamie Foxx will play the role of the manager, Curtis Taylor Jr., of the upcoming female group with Usher playing choreographer C.C. White. Murphy will play singer James "Thunder" Early.
Usher and Beyoncé Knowles have also been cast.
