Ratner hired to direct X-Men 3

Brett Ratner has been hired by 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment to replace Matthew Vaughn as the director of X-Men 3.Variety reports Ratner will begin filming in August for an early summer release in 2006.Vaughn announced his exit from the film last week for personal reasons. The third film in the X-Men franchise would have seen Vaughn reunite with his Lock, Stock co-star Vinnie Jones, who has been cast as "900-pound battering ram" Juggernaut.Frasier star Kelsey Grammer will appear as a furry blue mutant named Beast. Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman are also returning for the third X-Men movie.Vaughn had replaced Bryan Singer, director of the first two X-Men films, who chose to, instead, direct the new Superman movie.
