The bell may toll for Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio is in negotiations to star in For Whom the Bell Tolls for Warner Bros.

Variety reports David Benioff, who wrote troy, is penning the adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's classic novel.

DiCaprio is reported to be interested in playing Robert Jordan, the American teacher who joins an anti-fascist guerrillas in the mountains of Spain.

However, the star is said to be waiting until a direct is attached before he signs up.
