patterson's second book in the series, 'Maximum Ride : The Angel Experiment,' will also be made into a film. |
Variety reports the studio hopes to turn the books into a franchise aimed at young adults. The first novel will be adapted by Matthew Huffman with Akiva Goldsman and Kerry Foster producing.
When the Wind Blows is the story of six genetically altered children with wings, created by grafting avian DNA onto human genes, who are being hunted down. Maximum Ride develops the ideas from the first book and follows the children as one of their number is kidnapped by Erasers--half men, half-wolves genetically engineered by sick and sinister scientists.
Some of Patterson's other books have also been made into films with the Alex Cross series Along came a Spider and Kiss the Girls both being adapted for the big screen.
