George Clooney to play top lawyer in Michael Clayton

George Clooney will star in the independent movie Michael Clayton.
Variety reports the legal thriller will be directed by Tony Gilroy, who also wrote the screenplay. Gilroy wrote The Bourne Supremacy and this will be his directorial debut.
Clooney's character is a top New York lawyer known as "The Janitor" due to his history of cleaning up the messy lives of his high profile clients. The film catches up with him during the four worst days of his career.
Filming is due to begin early next year.
