I hope no body believes that the da vinci code is actually true. God sent Jesus Christ to die in our place so that we could live forever in paradice. I am sad people do beilieve in the book becuase it will get you nowhere and better yet don't read the book!

But the book does not discredit Jesus Christ and/or his place in the Bible. It just suggests that there might be more to his story!

Katie, reminding people it is fiction is fine, but to say don't read it is being a bit silly. After all, it is placed in the Fiction section of the book store.

Katie, you have the right to say what you will, but your statement doesn't have much of an impact when there are multiple spelling mistakes. Obviously, many people enjoy this tale and most likely, will not be discouraged from advising their friends/family/coworkers/etc to read it just because it might make you 'sad.'

Katie, have you read the book?

As rational humans we should be able to rise above the petty notion of religion and that there is a god. With so many religions in the world each claiming to be the 'true' teaching of 'god' you have to wonder if its not just a huge crock of sh!t. If humans are 98% the same as a chimpanze then I'll take my chances that we evolved from apes, not by the wave of some magic man.

So, katie, what if better yet you were told not to read the bible....then what?

I just finished reading the book a couple days ago and i really enjoyed it. i couldn't put it down. i think it was very interesting and it made me think about things in a different way. i still believe in Jesus and that he died for our sins but i also know that the bible was written by man.

Katie, while I can appreciate your devotion to your faith, I belive it is silly to encourage people not to have questions. Although a little off base, the Da Vinci Code does pose some theories that promote the idea that people should look a little deeper and not blindly accept what they are told. And, if nothing else, it is an extremely entertaining story.

I do not believe the book is true nor do I believe in Christianity. How can you ignore all the contrary facts to everything Christians hold holy. I just want people to think with open minds and not be brainwashed and scared into believing everything they hear about religion.

I'm still trying to get supporting evidence for the claims made in The Bible.

I thought it was a great read and very thought provoking. Can't see anything wrong with a book that makes you think.

Katie: Whether or not there is any truth to the historical references in the DaVinci Code is beside the point (see comment below about 'fiction'). It's OK to disagree or be angry or offended. But your closed-minded, black-and-white (some might say brainwashed) attitude does nothing to justify or garner respect for your statement. Such a complete lack of tolerance and critical thinking is why this world is such a mess. If you spend your life standing your dark corner hurling accusations, you have wasted it. Come out and meet others in the middle of the room. If you want others to hear you, you must also listen.

I thought Brown did a great job of weaving myth, rumor and conspiracy into a believable tale of fiction. Emphasis on fiction. I like Katie, she's trying to defend her faith and I can relate. People struggle with faith all the time. It can be frustrating as a Christian when people will believe an admitted work of fiction written by a man but disregard 66 books 'breathed by God' as the scriptures say (the Bible).

i would hope even hardcore christians would be open to the fact that man created the bible and organized religion therefore odds are the are half truths and missing information.

I'm really excited to see Audrey in this film. I think she's an amazing actress that the american audience needs more exposure to. And off topic -
Since when did this website become a basis for religious debate? It's a great book and should be a good movie. If you don't support the book, you don't support the movie...so why would you comment anyway?
