Variety reports the Spider-Man star will join Cate Blanchett and George Clooney in the adaptation of Joseph Kanon's novel.
The story concerns an American journalist who finds himself drawn into a murder mystery when he returns to post-WW II Berlin in search of his wartime mistress.
Steven Soderbergh is directing from a screenplay by Paul Attanasio.
