Portman and Bardem Haunted by Goya

Natalie Portman and Javier Bardem are in negotiations to star in Goya's Ghosts, a drama about Spanish painter Francisco Goya.Variety reports Milos Forman will direct from a script he wrote with Jean-Claude Carriere.Media mogul Saul Zaentz will produce with an eye towards a start in the fall.Goya's Ghosts is set in Spain in the late eighteenth century with Goya at the height of his fame. A scandal erupts when an unscrupulous monk, who is part of the inquisition, accuses Goya’s muse of heresy in a setup.Portman would play the muse and her daughter, with Bardem the monk. In a twist the daughter may actually be the daughter of the monk.
