Sommers will direct the Remake of Paramount's 'When Worlds Collide'

Paramount has hired Stephen Sommers to direct and script a remake of the 1950's sci-fi movie "When Worlds Collide."

Variety reports that Sommers will produce along with Bob Ducsay.

The original followed a group of scientists who calculate another planet is on collision course with earth. They decide to build a rocket to allow at least some of Earth’s inhabitants to escape. It starred Richard Derr and Barbara Rush.
