Orlando Bloom as Balian of Ibelin in 'Kingdom of Heaven'

They say the interiors are sumptuous and the landscapes otherworldly. Jerusalem is on a massive scale and looks amazing.The battle scenes are pretty brutal with bone-cracking action and camera in the thick of things. Also worth a note is the CGI, which they say, is pretty seamless. So when you see Saladin's massive army you don’t think it’s yet another in the long line of gratuitous CGI shots.The story itself is intricate and maybe a bit convoluted. There are a lot of characters in the film with Brendan Gleeson, Jeremy Irons, and David Thewlis standing out. However, Eva Green's character and performance leaves a little to be desired and seems lightly pinned on as a love interest for Orlando Bloom's character Balian.So what about Orlando himself...well our reader says his performance exceeded their expectations...though he spend much of it looking weary and wary.In summary they say it succeeds far more than it doesn’t."Kingdom of Heaven" opens on May 6 in the US and UK, a full site review nearer the time.For further details and media visit our database.
