Michael Apted Directing Film About William Wilberforce

Michael Apted ("The World Is Not Enough") will direct political thriller "Amazing Grace" for Walden Media.
Variety reports the film is based on the life of British anti-slavery crusader William Wilberforce.
Apted will direct from a script by writer Steven Knight and will center on Wilberforce's efforts as a Member of Parliament in 18th-century England to end slavery throughout the British empire. Wilberforce became a MP at 21 and successfully took on the most powerful men of his day.
Walden Media are also behind the upcoming "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe."
