Meg Ryan Gets the Role of a Lifetime

Meg Ryan has been cast in "The Role of a Lifetime," a romantic comedy about a movie star and a British director whose paths cross on Broadway.The Hollywood Reporter says the long brewing project was originally set up at Columbia Pictures a decade ago, "Role" is in the process of moving over to Touchstone Pictures, where Dean Devlin, Kevin Spacey and Denise Di Novi will produce. Spacey does not intend to act in the film, as had been reported earlier in its development history, and the male lead has not yet been cast.A Hepburn/Tracy-like relationship is said to develop when a British theater director comes to Broadway with a Shakespearean production and investors insist that he cast a movie star in the leading role.Allison Burnett wrote the original script with Wendy Wasserstein rewriting it and finally Burnett modified the rewrite.
