Lonergan to Direct Margaret for Searchlight

Kenneth Lonergan, whose writing credits include "Gangs of New York," is set to direct "Margaret" for Fox Searchlight Pictures.The story centers on a 17-year-old girl who witnesses a bus accident, and what seems like a simple issue of whether it was or was not accidental slowly spreads out to affect many people.J. Smith-Cameron has been cast, though no details of her role were forthcoming from the production company.Scott Rudin Productions and Mirage Enterprises are developing the film with Rudin and Sydney Pollack producing.This will be Lonergan's directorial debut on a feature length film, though he did direct the short "You Can Count on Me."
