By James Wray Jan 24, 2005, 17:32 GMT
It looks like reports that actress Audrey Tautou has been chosen to star in The Da Vinci Code" are firming up as more media outlets run the story.
If confirmed Tautou ("A Very Long Engagement") will play Sophie Neveu, the young French cryptologist who assists Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) as he tries to unlock the mystery in this adaptation for Dan Brown's best selling novel of the same name.
"The Da Vinci Code" starts with the murder of the Lourve curator and the clues he leaves behind send Robert Langdon on a journey that leads to a well-protected secret that could change Christianity forever.
Ron Howard is directing from a script by Akiva Goldsman.
Filming is due to begin in May on location in France and elsewhere.

they could have picked someone better looking
Howard, Hanks, and Tatou: that's serious help for a desperately wretched book.
I can't wait for the film, espicially now that I know that Audrey Tautou will be doing Sophie's role!! The book was fantastic! I hope the movie does justice to the book.
Uhm, it is the LOUVRE, not the LOURVE.
Excuse me, but what the f% do you mean by saying that it is a wretched book? can you say why you think that? is it perhaps that you are a small-minded christian weirdo who can't accept the truth when it hits you on the face? For gods sake, do some research, and you will see how much of this fictional novel is actually true.
As for the casting, the only wise choice so far is Jean Reno, everyone else are the worst possible choice.
And if you do some research on art history, you will see how much of this story is b***s***. It's not a bad book because it's questionning what the catholic church says, who cares about that; it's a bad book because it's badly written, and because it claims to be based on actual facts so that gullible people believe crap such as 'oh yeah, St John in da Vinci's Last Supper is actually Mary Magdalene, oooh'.

OH NO!!! She's going commercial! :-( I'll watch this movie just because of her. She's an extremely talented actor. >
