By James Wray Jan 20, 2005, 3:40 GMT

Nominations for the 77th Academy Awards® will be announced Tuesday, January 25, by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Frank Pierson and Oscar-winning actor and Academy member Adrien Brody.

Pierson and Brody will unveil the nominations in ten of the 24 categories at a 5:30 a.m. news conference, which will be attended by media outlets from around the world.

Nominations in all categories will be distributed simultaneously to news media in attendance and via the Internet on the official Academy Awards Web site, Oscar.com.

Two years ago, for the 75th Academy Awards, Brody received his first Oscar nomination for his leading role in The Pianist. His subsequent win made him the youngest male performer to win a leading actor Oscar. Brody recently starred in The Village and will next be seen starring in The Jacket and King Kong.

Official screenings for Academy members of all pictures with a nomination are scheduled to begin January 29th at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills and the Linwood Dunn Theater located at the Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study in Hollywood. Screenings in certain categories also will be held in London, New York and San Francisco.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2004 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland®. The Oscars will be televised live by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST / 8p.m. EST, beginning with a half hour arrivals segment.
