Matthew Vaughn has bought film rights to Neil Gaiman's fantasy novel "Stardust."
The novel starts in the tranquil fields and meadows of long-ago England, there is a small hamlet that has stood on a jut of granite for 600 years. Just to the east stands a high stone wall, for which the village is named.
Here, in the hamlet of Wall, young Tristran Thorn has lost his heart to the hauntingly beautiful Victoria Forester. And here, one crisp October eve, Tristran makes his love a promise -- an impetuous vow that will send him through the only breach in the wall, across the pasture...and into the most exhilarating adventure of his life.
Variety also reports the director is in talks with writer John Hodge to work on the movie version of the 1960's spy series "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." for Warner Bros, as previously reported.
"I've always wanted to make a spy movie, and our idea is like nothing you've ever seen before," Vaughn says. "The name is the only thing that's staying from the original show. The studio is giving us a lot of freedom to break the rules."
Vaughn made his directorial debut last year with the UK gangster flick "Layer Cake," which you can read more about in our database .
