Hugo Weaving Joins Cast of Romantic Drama Eucalyptus

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Weaving will join the set in February when filming will begin in Bellingen, Australia.
The film was due to be finished by now but production was suspended due to casting difficulties and alleged problems with the script. Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman, and Jack Thompson are also set to star in the adaptation of Murray Bail's novel.
It's a story of a plantation owner who prizes his daughter and his his trees. When she comes of age he sets up a competition or rule that only a suitor who knows the name of all his trees can marry her.
Although dismissive of most of them his daughter, Ellen, begins to have encounters with one in particular. As the story goes on so these encounters become more erotic.
"Eucalyptus" is being directed by Jocelyn Moorehouse from a script by herself and Michelle Joyner.
