Harrison Ford Cast in Fallujah Drama

By James Wray Dec 16, 2004, 11:47 GMT

Harrison Ford is to play one of the key characters in a drama that marks the first major movie about the current war in Iraq. Universal-based Double Feature partners Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher have optioned the upcoming book "No True Glory: The Battle for Fallujah."

The book was written by Bing West, an ex-Marine and former assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs who is now a foreign correspondent covering the Iraq war. West will write the script with son Owen, a longtime Marine rifleman who left the service to become a trader at Goldman Sachs but returned to fight in Iraq for a year.

For months author F. J. “Bing” West lived among the Marines who besieged the insurgent stronghold of Fallujah, and interviewed members of the three US Army units that fought in that factious city before the Marines arrived. With access from frontline personnel to senior policymakers and negotiators, West’s astonishing account takes us into strategy discussions between generals, on tense night patrols, and into fighting from rooftop to rooftop to tell the story that hasn’t been told in the press or on the nightly news.

Further details on the book in our database, watch out for a review in the New Year.

I cant wait for this one, it will actually get me into the theatre for a change. Might be worth 12 bucks or however much movies will be by then.
The book by Bing West was excellent, edge of your seat stuff - i was glad i wasnt there sharing the joy. But the book makes it seem like you could be. The USMC are some brave boys, God bless em and let em keep making good Hajiis until this dirty war is over with.
