Hilary Swank Joins Cast of The Black Dahlia
By James Wray Dec 14, 2004, 10:47 GMT
Hilary Swank is to play a femme fatale in The Black Dahlia, the Brian De Palma-directed adaptation of the James Ellroy novel.
The Black Dahlia is set in 1940s Los Angeles. Two ex boxer cops, Bucky Bleichert and Lee Blanchard, investigate the death of Elizabeth Short, a young woman brutally murdered. Bucky soon realizes that his girlfriend had ties to the deceased, and uncovers corruption and conspiracy within the police department. Swank's character looks like the victim and proves a dangerous seductress to the cops.
Shooting is due to start April 4 in Bulgaria working to budget of around $30 million.
Swank will join Josh Hartnett and Scarlett Johansson, who are already cast.
