Universal Picks Up BBC Series State of Play for Movie

Universal Pictures and Andrew Hauptman's Mission Pictures are to develop an American movie version of Paul Abbott's BBC miniseries State of Play.The BAFTA winning series is a political thriller about two friends, one a member of Parliament and the other a journalist, who find themselves on opposite sides of an investigation into two seemingly unrelated murders.Abbott is already writing a second series and will act as executive producer on the movie.
