In "Fahrenheit 6911" Lou Benedetti, Carr's alter ego who worships Michael Moore, accidentally steals Moore's girlfriend with his humanistic approach to politics. "Fahrenheit 6911" follows on the heals of his humorous and highly successful "Passion of the Heist" short which cost $20 and generated 12,000,000 plus Web hits to date and articles in national media including Entertainment Weekly and the Hollywood Reporter.
Bret Carr has a series of tongue-in-cheek, topical and thought provoking short films planned that will be hosted at Lou Benedetti, the alter ego of Carr, is the central character of the feature film, "The Gospel of LOU," which Carr starred in, directed, and co-wrote with Mary Helen Shashy and Quinn Redeker, creator of multiple Oscar-winner "The Deer Hunter."
Bret Carr, says, "We shot this short to quell the righteous indignation which has erupted over the truth contained in Fahrenheit 9/11. Against the assault of humor, nothing can stand, and we are therefore giving free tickets to the first 50 Halliburton employees or House of Saud relatives that we convert to a willingness to see Fahrenheit 9/11 -- subject to Dick Cheney's approval, of course."
The "Fahrenheit 6911" actors are Matt Marchand, Silvia Suvadova, and Bret Carr. Directing the short is Michael Mistch.
Carr's notoriety has started a frenzy of activity with Hollywood studios and agencies positioning themselves for "The Gospel of LOU" rights and Carr's next projects. Stephen Polk, Carr's producing partner says, "The consensus from distributors is that Bret's performance hangs you on the edge of your seat and needs to be considered for next year's Oscar."
Newmarket Capital (distributor of Mel Gibson's 'Passion'), Fox Searchlight, and Paramount classics are in discussions with Polk's Providence Productions to distribute the film. Carr is represented by Michael Shenkman of Bloom, Hergot, Diemer. Stephen Polk adds, "In addition to creating fans in and outside of the distribution circles, a large portion of the strong responses comes from a new model we have created by producing short films involving the movie's LOU character which drive theatrical motion picture advertising traffic in unheard of numbers.
We have even had an offer come in from a marketing savvy Internet company to finance our theatrical release so they could drive traffic to their website. "
Carr's masterpiece, a directorial/acting debut about a homophobic, violent stuttering boxer who transforms himself into an inspirational leader, has won nominations and Jury Prizes at four of the top ten film festivals in the world in 2003.
