Jackie Chan's The Myth Digs Up Trouble
By James Wray Oct 12, 2004, 12:43 GMT
Jackie Chan's latest movie, The Myth, has been forced to cease filming due to a disagreement in the historical town of Hampi in India's southern Karnataka state.
India's Directorate of Archaeology and Museums ordered cranes and sets to be removed from grounds of the 15th-century Virupaksha temple at Hampi over the weekend, saying the production had not sought permission to film.
Helmer Stanley Tong said permission was granted by the Archaeological Survey of India and the Hampi World Heritage Site. But the directorate claims the area is under its jurisdiction.
The film, Chan's first in India had been due to finish this week.
