Nicole Kidman May Join Eucalyptus

Fox Searchlight is in negotiations with Nicole Kidman to join Eucalyptus. Kidman would join Russell Crowe, Geoffrey Rush and director Jocelyn Moorhouse on the film, adapted from Murray Bail's novel.
It's a story of a plantation owner who prizes his daughter and his his trees. When she comes of age he sets up a competition or rule that only a suitor who knows the name of all his trees can marry her.
Although dismissive of most of them his daughter, Ellen, begins to have encounters with one in particular (Crowe). As the story goes on so these encounters become more erotic
Michelle Joyner and Moorhouse wrote the script for the film which is expected to begin production early next year.
Well a turn up for the books,or rather not. Our source, as per the rumours of the delay, actually mentioned that Russell Crowe was keen to cast Nicole Kidman and have the script altered.
One thing we reckon that Kidman may not be hired to play the lead, since the character is 19 years old. Unless they change the story quite a bit. Perhaps she is one of the characters during the flashback scenes...
Certainly this cast will do much to boost interest in the movie if it is confirmed.
