Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet for All the King's Men

Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, and Mark Ruffalo are in negotiations to join Jude Law and Sean Penn in the remake of All the King's Men which Columbia Pictures are making.
Streep would play Sadie, an aide to Southern politician Willie Stark (Penn). Law is set to appear as Jack Burden, a journalist who falls under Stark's spin and spell.
Steven Zaillian is set to direct from his own screenplay, adpated from Robert Penn Warren's novel.
The book won the Pulitzer Prize, and is generally regarded as the finest novel ever written on american politics. It describes the career of Willie Stark, a back-country lawyer whose idealism is overcome by his lust for power. More details here.
