Elizabeth Olsen is in talks for the female lead in Mandate Pictures' remake of the South Korean thriller "Oldboy."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spike Lee is directing with Josh Brolin starring.
Rooney Mara had been linked to the female lead last year but nothing materialized.
The original "Oldboy" was released in 2003 and directed by Chan-wook Park.
It won the Grand Prize Jury Award at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.
The film follows a man (Brolin) who is kidnapped and held in a cell for 15 years without explanation. He is released and goes on a quest for revenge against the people responsible.
Mark Protosevich adapted the script.
Roy Lee and Doug Davison are producing through Vertigo Entertainment and Lee's 40 Acres & A Mule Productions.
Olsen is coming off her breakout performance in last year's "Martha Marcy May Marlene."
