'Gangster Squad' release date moved up

Warner Bros. has moved up the release date of their 1940s cop movie "The Gangster Squad" to October 12, 2012.
According to Variety, the original release date had been October 19.
Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") directed.
Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Anthony Mackie, Michael Pena, Giovanni Ribisi, Holt McCallany, Emma Stone, Robert Patrick, Mireille Enos, Nick Nolte and Troy Garity star in the film.
"Gangster Squad" is based on a seven-part Los Angeles Times article written by Paul Lieberman that details how, during 1940s corruption and chaos, the LAPD created a special unit called the Gangster Squad to prevent the East Coast mafia from infecting the city.
Dan Lin and Kevin McCormick produced.
Former LAPD officer Will Beall wrote the screenplay.
