Adam Sandler heads to 'Candy Land'
By Adnan Tezer Feb 2, 2012, 20:30 GMT
Sony Pictures and Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company are in talks to pick up the screen rights to the classic Hasbro board game "Candy Land" from Universal.
According to Variety, Sandler would star in the live-action film.
Kevin Lima is set to direct from a script by Sandler and Robert Smigel.
"Candy Land," one of the most iconic and instantly recognizable board games of all time, was designed in 1945 by Eleanor Abbott and first published in 1949.
Players move through lands made of candy, sweets and ice cream: the Peppermint Forest, the Gum Drop Mountains and the Lollypop Woods.
Relativity Media announced earlier this week that it was moving forward with Hasbro on a live-action film about Stretch Armstrong after Universal, which is ending its four-year production deal with Hasbro, passed.
