Paramount has pushed back the release date of their 3D "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" from March 2, 2012 to January 11, 2013.
According to Variety, Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton star as Hansel and Gretel.
Tommy Wirkola directed from a script by D.W. Harper.
This version of the fairytale is set 15 years after the siblings killed the witch who kidnapped them. Hansel and Gretel are now bounty hunters who pursue witches.
Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy, Adam McKay and Kevin J. Messick are producing through their Gary Sanchez Productions.
The release date change will allow the studio time to mount a 3D marketing plan for the film as well as avoid any potential Renner overload with the release of his two high profile 2012 films "The Avengers" and "The Bourne Legacy."
