'Devil Inside' takes weekend box office

Paramount's "The Devil Inside" was a surprise winner at the domestic box office as it debuted with $34.5 million.
According to Variety, Paramount's "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" placed No. 2 with $20.5 million for a domestic cumulative of $170.2 million.
Warner Bros.' "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" came in at No. 3 with $14.1 million for a domestic cumulative of $157.4 million.
Sony's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" placed No. 4 with $11.3 million for a domestic cumulative of $76.8 million.
Fox's "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" came in at No. 5 with $9.5 million for a domestic cumulative of $111.6 million.
