Benjamin Bratt knows how to 'Snitch'
By Adnan Tezer Dec 7, 2011, 20:16 GMT
Benjamin Bratt has joined the cast of Summit Entertainment's action thriller "Snitch."
According to Variety, Ric Roman Waugh ("Felon") is directing and rewrote the original script by Justin Haythe.
Production is underway in Shreveport, Louisiana with an early 2013 release being eyed.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Susan Sarandon, Jon Bernthal, Barry Pepper, Michael K. Williams, Rafi Gavron, Nadine Velazquez and Melina Kanakaredes have been cast.
Nigel Sinclair, Guy East, Alex Brunner, David Fanning, Gordon Gray and Johnson are producing.
The story centers on a father (Johnson) whose teenage son is sentenced to 30 years under mandatory minimum drug laws. In order to have his son's sentence reduced, the father goes undercover to rat out a powerful drug dealer.
The story was inspired by a PBS "Frontline" documentary detailing recent shifts in U.S. drug laws toward federal mandatory sentencing minimums and how these shifts had, in turn, forced the guilty to snitch on others.
Bratt can be seen on ABC's "Private Practice."
