Actor and film maker Andy Serkis has revealed that the world will be given their first real glimpse at "The Hobbit" movies in December with the release of a movie trailer.

Without revealing finite details of it's release, Andy Serkis was quoted by IGN of saying;

""There will be a trailer fairly soon, actually. Around Christmas time, I believe."

With this in mind, my guess would be that the trailer will likely debut with the US release of the Peter Jackson produced "The Adventures of Tintin" on December 21st, or the release of Warner Brothers (the studio behind "The Hobbit") "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" on December 16th.

Serkis, who starred as Gollum/Smeagol in "The Lord of the Rings" is reprising that role in the two "Hobbit" movies. As well as starring in the production, he has also joined the crew, helping out Peter Jackson as a second unit director. He went on to say in the interview that he is finding the experience fascinating and that the locations used for the new film are "remarkable."

“It’s quite fascinating, I’m having a ball. It’s a huge operation, really. We’re on the road at the moment, at various different locations on South Island in New Zealand. There are some truly remarkable landscapes that we’re filming in. It’s just stunning," claimed Andy Serkis.

"The Hobbit," directed by Peter Jackson has been split into two seperate feature films and is currently being filmed back to back in New Zealand. Shooting began on the film's in March and is set to continue up until the summer next year.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" is released across the world from December 14th, 2012.

"The Hobbit: There and Back Again" is released across the world from December 13th, 2013.
