'Puss in Boots' wins Halloween box office weekend

Paramount and DreamWorks Animation's "Puss in Boots" broke the Halloween weekend box office record as it opened with $34 million.
The previous record holder was 2006's "Saw III," which had a $33.6 million opening.
According to Variety, Paramount's "Paranormal Activity 3" placed No. 2 as it took in $18.5 million for a domestic cumulative of $81.3 million.
Twentieth Century Fox's sci-fi film "In Time" opened in the No.3 spot with $12 million.
Paramount's "Footloose" came in at No. 4 with $5.4 million for a domestic cumulative of $38.4 million.
FilmDistrict's "The Rum Diary" opened in the No.5 spot with $5 million.
