Affleck and Damon to reunite for Whitey Bulger film
By Adnan Tezer Oct 25, 2011, 19:05 GMT
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will collaborate on an untitled film for Warner Bros. about notorious Boston mobster Whitey Bulger.
According to Variety, Damon would play Bulger with Affleck directing and co-starring in the film as well.
Affleck and Damon are producing through their Pearl Street Films company.
Casey Affleck will also co-star with Terrence Winter ("Boardwalk Empire") writing the script.
Bulger, who was the leader of the Boston-based Winter Hill Gang, was caught in Santa Monica earlier this year after having been on the run for 16 years.
Bulger, who also served as an FBI informant, fled Boston in late 1994 off a tip from a corrupt FBI agent that he was about to be indicted for federal racketeering.
He currently faces charges that include 19 murders from the 1970s and 1980s.
Bulger was the inspiration for the Francis "Frank" Costello role that Jack Nicholson played in Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning 2006 film "The Departed" that Damon co-starred in.
Affleck and Damon won an Oscar for the "Good Will Hunting" screenplay in 1997.
