Jurnee Smollett will play the female lead in Tyler Perry's "The Marriage Counselor" for Lionsgate.
According to Variety, this will be the feature version of Perry's play of the same name.
Perry is producing through his Tyler Perry Studios shingle along with Ozzie Arau and Paul Hall.
Production will begin October 25 in Atlanta.
The film centers on a married couple (the husband an accountant and the wife an Ivy League-educated marriage counselor) experiencing problems in their marriage as his father and her mother move in with them.
This continues the relationship between Perry and Lionsgate, which has seen Perry's 11 films over the last six years gross nearly $600 million at the North American box office.
Lionsgate recently extended its first-look deal with Perry for two more years.
Perry's latest film for Lionsgate, "Good Deeds," opens February 24.
Smollett's recent credits include CBS' "The Defenders" and NBC's "Friday Night Lights."
