Troy Garity has joined the cast of Warner Bros.' 1940s cop movie "The Gangster Squad."
According to Variety, Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") is directing with shooting underway in Los Angeles.
The film has a release date of October 19, 2012.
Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Anthony Mackie, Michael Pena, Giovanni Ribisi, Holt McCallany, Emma Stone, Robert Patrick, Mireille Enos and Nick Nolte have been cast.
"Gangster Squad" is based on a seven-part Los Angeles Times article written by Paul Lieberman that details how, during 1940s corruption and chaos, the LAPD created a special unit called the Gangster Squad to prevent the East Coast mafia from infecting the city.
Dan Lin and Kevin McCormick are producing.
Former LAPD officer Will Beall wrote the screenplay.
Garity was recently on "The Playboy Club" and can be seen on Starz's "Boss" opposite Kelsey Grammer.
