'Pacific Rim' release date pushed up

Guillermo del Toro's monster movie "Pacific Rim" for Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures will open on May 10, 2013.
According to Variety, the previous release date had been July 12, 2013.
Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Willem Dafoe, Diego Klattenhoff and Clifton Collins Jr. have been cast.
Del Toro will produce with Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni.
Travis Beacham wrote the script.
The film centers on a group of humans that develop robots to fight off an extraterrestrial force that threatens the Earth's existence.
Del Toro had been working on an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness" for Universal, but problems arose over budget and rating.
