By Adnan Tezer Oct 5, 2011, 18:49 GMT
Paramount Pictures will join forces with New Regency for the re-imagining of the Noah's ark story titled "Noah."
According to Variety, Darren Aronofsky is directing.
Arnon Milchan is producing for New Regency along with Aronofsky and Scott Franklin.
Noah's Ark is the ship that, according to the Book of Genesis, was built by Noah at God's order to save himself, his family, and the world's animals from the Great Flood.
Aronofsky and Ari Handel wrote the first draft of the script with John Logan ("Any Given Sunday," "Gladiator," "Hugo Cabret") doing a rewrite.
Aronofsky was set to direct Fox's "Wolverine" with Hugh Jackman but dropped out of the project in March.
His last film was the critical and commercial success "Black Swan," which earned star Natalie Portman a Best Actress Oscar.
His other credits include "Pi," "Requiem for a Dream," "The Fountain" and "The Wrestler."
