Jeremy Renner is a 'King Of Heists'
By Adnan Tezer Sep 22, 2011, 19:13 GMT
Jeremy Renner is in talks to star in the feature adaptation of J. North Conway's novel "King of Heists."
According to Deadline.com, Renner will also produce with his partner Don Handfield through their The Combine shingle along with Black Bear Pictures' Teddy Schwarzman.
Will Staples will adapt the script.
The true-life story centers on George Leonidas Leslie (Renner), an architect turned bank robber who ran a gang of thieves in New York that from 1874-1884 was responsible for 80% of America's bank robberies. Leslie carried out over a hundred robberies and made off with between seven and twelve million dollars.
His crowning achievement would be the heist of the Manhattan Savings Institution in 1878, which netted almost three million in cash and securities.
Renner will be seen opposite Tom Cruise in "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" this December.
