Hugh Grant has joined the cast of Warner Bros. and Focus Features International's adaptation of David Mitchell's 2004 novel "Cloud Atlas."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Andy and Lana Wachowski and Tom Tykwer are writing and co-directing.
The ensemble cast includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Ben Whishaw and Jim Sturgess.
Stefan Arndt and Grant Hill are producing through their Five Drops company along with the Wachowskis.
Warner Bros. will distribute in North America while Focus Features International will handle foreign distribution.
Shooting will take place in Scotland, Spain and Germany.
The novel mixes past, present and future as it follows six storylines that include an American notary in the 19th century, a 1930s British musician, a journalist in 1970s California, an early 21st century press publisher, a futuristic human clone and a Hawaiian tribesman struggling to survive after the apocalypse.
Grant was last seen in 2009's "Did You Hear About the Morgans?"
