Peter Stormare is in talks to join Lionsgate's action-western "The Last Stand" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
According to Variety, Jee-woon Kim is directing from a script by Andrew Knauer.
Jeffrey Nachmanoff and George Nolfi did polishes.
The film has a January 18, 2013 release date set.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing.
Schwarzenegger had been attached to the drama "Cry Macho" but dropped out in May after a scandal broke out over his fathering a child with his housekeeper.
"The Last Stand" centers on a border-town sheriff (Schwarzenegger) and his inexperienced deputies who must catch a recently escaped Mexican cartel boss.
Stormare ("Fargo," "Armageddon," "The Big Lebowski") would play the main henchman of the cartel boss.
He'll be seen opposite Mel Gibson in the upcoming "How I Spent My Summer Vacation."
