Mark Bomback has been hired to rewrite 20th Century Fox's "The Wolverine."
According to Variety, Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as the mutant/X-Men member Wolverine from "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."
James Mangold is directing.
Christopher McQuarrie wrote an earlier draft of the script.
The story centers on an amnesia-suffering Wolverine who tries to determine what his involvement is with the Japanese mob.
Jackman is producing along with John Palermo and Lauren Shuler Donner.
Production is expected to begin later next year in Tokyo and Vancouver.
Bomback has a strong relationship with Fox having written the screenplays for the studio's "Live Free or Die Hard" and "Unstoppable."
