Fox has tapped Shawn Levy to direct their untitled Frankenstein film.
According to Variety, Davis Entertainment will produce.
Paul Greengrass and David Yates had also been in contention for directing duties on the project.
Max Landis has written an early treatment for the film, which is being described as a sci-fi adaptation of the classic Mary Shelley version.

There are at least six other Frankenstein feature projects being developed although none have a production date set.
The hope is that Levy's involvement will push Fox's version ahead of the competition.
Levy's next film, DreamWorks' "Real Steel" starring Hugh Jackman, opens in October.
