Columbia Pictures will remake their 1990 thriller "Flatliners."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Source Code" screenwriter Ben Ripley will write the script.
Laurence Mark ("Julie & Julia," "The Lookout") is producing.
No director or actors have been mentioned.
The 1990 original was directed by Joel Schumacher from a Peter Filardi script.
The film starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt as a group of medical students who induce near-death experiences in order to see what lies beyond death. They are later haunted by the ghosts of their childhood sins, not knowing if they are real or imagined.
