It may be two years away from release, but with filming already underway, Warner Brothers have released a first official image of Henry Cavill as Superman in director Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel."

The film released June 2013 stars Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix and Laurence Fishburne.

Superman was born Kal-El on the planet Krypton, before being sent to Earth as an infant by his scientist father Jor-El, moments before Krypton's destruction. Discovered and adopted by a Kansas farmer and his wife, the child was raised as Clark Kent and given a strong moral compass. Upon reaching maturity, he started using his superhuman abilities for the benefit of humanity.
