Paul Wesley joins new 'Romeo' film

Paul Wesley has joined the cast of the new "Romeo and Juliet" film.
According to Variety, Carlo Carlie ("Flight of the Innocent") will direct the latest adaptation of the William Shakespeare classic about two teenagers from feuding families who fall in love and whose tragic deaths reunite their respective families.
Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld will play Juliet.
Douglas Booth will play Romeo.
Oscar-winner Holly Hunter will play The Nurse, who raised Juliet and is a conduit for her and Romeo.
Ed Westwick will play Tybalt, Juliet's cousin.
Kodi Smit-McPhee will play Benvolio, Romeo's cousin.
Wesley would play Count Paris.
Julian Fellowes ("Gosford Park," "The Tourist") wrote the adaptation and will produce along with Garbiele Muccino, Ileen Maisel and Mark Ordesky.
The $15 million film will shoot in Italy in September.
There have been several film incarnations of "Romeo and Juliet" including Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 version and Baz Luhrmann's 1996 version.
Wesley is best known for his role as Stefan Salvatore on the CW's "Vampire Diaries."
